May River’s varsity softball team kept its momentum rolling with a decisive 10–3 home conference win over Colleton County on April 1.
The victory is significant for May River as it continues its strong performance in the region. The team broke open a scoreless start with a four-run fourth inning and added three runs each in the fifth and sixth innings to secure control of the game. Pitcher Caydon Swofford struck out nine batters while allowing nine hits across seven innings.
At the plate, May River distributed production throughout its lineup. Olivia Nagel reached base consistently and helped spark rallies during the middle innings. Kali Clark and Avery Davis contributed key hits, while aggressive baserunning and steady fielding maintained momentum for the Sharks.
The win sets up a rematch between May River and Colleton County scheduled for Friday, April 24 at 7 p.m., when May River will travel to Walterboro for another conference clash, according to an upcoming matchup preview.
May River will look to build on this result and replicate last season’s playoff success against Colleton County, when they won 7–4 on May 13, 2025. With confidence from their recent win and previous performances against Colleton County, May River aims to extend its dominance and strengthen its standing in region play.
