The May River Sharks fell to the Hilton Head Island Seahawks 2–1 in a varsity girls soccer conference match.
The match took place on March 20 at Hilton Head Island High School, marking an important contest for both teams as they continue their conference schedules.
May River put together a gritty, defense‑first performance, anchored by junior Madelyn Green’s steady presence on both ends of the pool. Green supplied the Sharks’ lone goal and added two points overall, showing poise in tight spaces and creating the team’s best offensive looks. Her ability to generate chances while also contributing defensively gave May River a reliable spark in an otherwise low‑scoring match. Sophomore goalkeeper Kendal Bembry kept the Sharks competitive throughout, turning away two shots and controlling the crease with confidence. Her reads were sharp, and she limited second‑chance opportunities that could have widened the gap. Leila Aberle also logged meaningful minutes, helping stabilize possessions and support the defensive structure
Looking ahead, May River will face Bluffton for a conference match on Tuesday, March 31, at 7 p.m.
The last time these teams met, May River won its home conference match against Bluffton by a score of 3-0. The match was on April 29, 2025, according to MaxPreps.
